Senior Product Governance Specialist
CORE PROFILE
We are seeking a highly structured, analytical, and business-oriented Product Governance Senior Specialist to strengthen governance discipline across the Product organization including AI-enabled products, process automating, and data-driven decisioning systems. The Product Governance Senior Specialist champions strong product governance practices across the organization, ensuring products are built, launched, and managed in alignment with regulatory requirements, risk standards, and strategic priorities. As AI Adoption become Core to the company’s product strategy, this role assumes expanded accountability for governing AI adoption in the product execution and governance.
This role is critical in ensuring products are built, launched, and managed in accordance with internal frameworks, regulatory expectations, and risk standards - without slowing innovation. The ideal candidate combines governance & risk expertise, project/program management capability, and strong stakeholder influence. They are data-driven, process-oriented, and able to bring clarity and structure in a fast-moving fintech environment.
The role acts as the governance bridge between Product, Risk & Compliance, Engineering, Business Units, other control teams and key units - driving structured decision-making, risk visibility, and disciplined Product execution ensuring safe, scalable, and auditable adoption of AI within the product lifecycle.
NATURE OF WORK
The Product Governance Senior Specialist acts as the bridge between Product, Control Units and key stakeholders as enabler and guardrail of product excellence. The primary goal is to ensure disciplined execution of the product, clear accountability, structured risk management, and strong governance reporting.
The role focuses on governance health, execution oversight, process standardization, and cross-functional alignment.
Governance & Risk Management
- Drive adherence to Product Governance frameworks (PDLC), including AI lifecycle governance checkpoints
- Define and enforce AI-specific governance gates within the PDLC
- Ensure AI-specific controls on documentation, approvals, and control checkpoints are completed prior to launch.
- Identify governance gaps and recommend control enhancements.
- Support audit readiness for AI-enabled processes and decisions
- Monitors and escalates material risks related to automated decisioning or model
Process & Framework Design
- Enhance governance templates to include AI specific checks:
- AI use case risk rating: low/medium/high
- Traceability of data, controls, approvals, and ownership
- Lead AI driven standardization on product execution processes
- Embed AI driven governance checkpoints within product release and cadences.
- PRD – AI Risk Classification/Review
- UAT – validation of AI outputs
- Continuously optimize governance processes using automation and AI-assisted workflows
Project & Program Governance (AI Oversight)
- Tracks AI-enabled initiatives for governance compliance.
- Facilitate cross-functional governance forums, stage gates, and alignment sessions.
- Ensure structured documentation of key decisions and accountability.
- Supports and institutionalize internal and external product governance programs.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Act as governance steward to Product, Engineering, Risk & Compliance (other Control units) and Business leaders
- Cascade governance requirements clearly and effectively.
- Align cross-functional teams on delivery, risk, and compliance requirements.
- Escalate issues with clarity and structured recommendations.
- Influence adoption of responsible AI practices supporting efficiency in product execution.
Compliance Review & Testing
- Design and operate an AI Compliance Testing Protocol
- Conduct AI compliance validation for every phase of the product execution gates – independently verifying AI checks are correct; documentations are accurate; testing/approvals are completed with documented outcomes
- Periodic re-testing of product release compliance
- Maintains an AI Compliance Testing Register and report
- Integrate AI compliance testing into the automated governance workflow
- Introduce and establish an AI driven testing simulation (mock audit exercise that simulates regulatory audit, identification of gaps vs AI generated evidences) before actual regulatory audit engagement
Data & Reporting
- Develop and maintain (AI) governance dashboards and risk heatmaps standards.
- Track OKRs related to governance compliance and delivery health.
- Provide structured governance updates to leadership and management committees.
- Use data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Institutionalize analytical AI tools to drive efficiency, predict risk patterns and identify bottlenecks and gaps

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Management, Product Governance, Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Product Audit or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years’ experience in Product Governance, Risk, Compliance, Audit, or Product Operations preferably within fintech, banking, or regulated environments preferred
- Strong project and program management experience
- Exposure with product lifecycle and risk assessments frameworks
- Experience engaging senior stakeholders and management forums
- Certifications (preferred but not required): PMP, Agile, Risk Management, Governance-related certification
- Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards
- Experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.
