Backend Engineer - Marketing & Communications

CORE PROFILE

As a Software Engineer on the Personalization Platform team, you’ll join a cross-functional engineering squad working on real-time, AI- and ML-powered features across mobile and backend. You will be involved in all stages of the product, from shaping its vision to building and delivering it for Maya’s users. 
Your work will improve features that millions of users in the Philippines and beyond rely on every day.

NATURE OF WORK

  • Build and maintain the backend services and APIs that power the Personalization Platform. 
  • Design, plan, and implement high-quality features using TypeScript, Golang, or Java. 
  • Promote and ensure the use of best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), code reviews, and unit/integration tests. 
  • Support and mentor team members.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 4+ years of experience in backend development and building scalable, distributed systems on cloud infrastructure, with strong proficiency in modern testing practices (using TypeScript, Golang, or Java). 
  • Deep understanding of a wide range of current and emerging technologies. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with senior stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 
  • Effective communication and teamwork in an Agile environment (we use Scrum).
