What You Will Do

  • Own and drive the end-to-end credit strategy for the credit card portfolio — across acquisition, underwriting, limits, pricing, portfolio actions, instalment programs, and collections.
  • Own the credit risk and portfolio performance of the card book — managing the risk-return trade-off across receivables growth, credit losses, and provisioning to deliver healthy, risk-adjusted returns, in partnership with the business.
  • Set the credit risk appetite, guardrails, and decision principles, and govern the line-management strategy — initial limit assignment, credit line increases/decreases (CLI/CLD), over-limit and authorization strategy, and dynamic limit reallocation.
  • Assess macro-economic conditions (inflation, interest rates, employment, consumer stress indicators) and translate them into portfolio-level credit actions such as tightening/relaxing criteria, limit recalibration, and risk segmentation.
  • Partner with Product and Data Science teams to design, test, and scale credit strategies using internal, bureau, and alternative data.
  • Lead portfolio analyses across the card lifecycle — vintages, early delinquency, roll/flow rates, utilization, transactor-vs-revolver behavior, balance build, and profitability — and translate insights into action.
  • Own balance-build, instalment, and pricing levers (convert-to-instalment, balance conversion, re-pricing), define collections and recoveries strategy with the Collections team, and partner with the business on rewards and interchange economics.
  • Drive champion/challenger experiments, test governance, KPIs, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Build and lead a high-performing credit strategy and portfolio analytics team for the card, ensure compliance with BSP credit card regulation (incl. RA 10870), and present portfolio performance and risk to senior management, ManCom, and Board committees.

What We Are Looking For

  • 12+ years of experience in credit risk, portfolio management, analytics, or credit strategy in a bank or fintech, with significant depth in credit cards or revolving consumer credit.
  • Strong understanding of the consumer lending lifecycle from acquisition through collections, including line management, instalment programs, and pricing.
  • Track record of owning portfolio quality and risk-adjusted returns — managing the risk-return trade-off, not just minimizing losses.
  • Good understanding of macro-economic environments and their impact on consumer credit performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-structuring skills, with the ability to interpret insights and guide data-driven decisions (without hands-on coding).
  • Experience using bureau data, alternative data, scorecards, and decision engines to drive outcomes.
  • Knowledge of BSP / Philippine credit card regulation and industry best practice in consumer lending.
  • Proven people-leadership experience, with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior and Board level.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and bring clarity across multiple products and stakeholders.
  • Bias for execution, experimentation, and continuous improvement in fast-moving environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a digital bank or high-growth fintech.
  • Exposure to credit policy writing, regulatory governance, or IFRS 9 / PFRS 9 / ECL frameworks.
  • Experience working with AI/ML-driven credit models or large-scale credit testing programs (as a strategy or business owner).
  • FRM, CFA, or equivalent qualification.
