Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Product Engineering 1
Description:
CORE PROFILE
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join Partner Marketing Solutions (PMS), the team behind Maya’s partner advertising, campaign orchestration, audience targeting, and partner integrations. You will lead the team’s approach to reliability, resilience, and operational excellence across the PMS domain, influencing squads on automation, scalability, and fault tolerance so millions of Maya users get dependable ad experiences.
NATURE OF WORK
In this role, you will:
- Lead reliability for PMS platforms — Architect, automate, and operate scalable cloud-native infrastructure and pipelines so ad delivery and campaign orchestration meet availability and latency targets.
- Harden partner integrations & ad-delivery paths — Apply timeouts, retries, fallbacks, circuit breaking, and rate limits to partner APIs; define and report latency SLOs on critical paths.
- Drive automation & GitOps — Build reusable IaC modules and CI/CD workflows that improve deployment safety and self-service across PMS squads.
- Own incident command & RCA — Lead major incidents and restoration on monetization paths, join on-call escalation, and run blameless RCAs that eliminate repeat failures.
- Steer reliability governance & observability — Run reliability reviews, set SLOs and error-budget policy with Product and Engineering, and ensure telemetry meets privacy and consent requirements.
- Optimize capacity & cost, and mentor — Lead cloud optimization and capacity planning, review designs and code for reliability impact, and coach engineers on SRE practices.
DISPLAYED SKILL MASTERY
- Cloud-native & Platform Reliability — Kubernetes (multi-tenancy, CRDs/operators, deployment strategies), Docker, Istio (traffic shaping, mTLS, circuit breaking), Microservices, high availability, and AWS cost optimization.
- IaC, GitOps & CI/CD — Advanced Terraform (custom modules, automated testing), Helm (chart libraries, lifecycle hooks), GitLab CI, ArgoCD, and progressive delivery (Flagger).
- Observability & SRE Practices — SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and chaos engineering; tuning with Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Automation & Platform Engineering — Go or Python and Shell for tooling; self-service IDP automation (provisioning, RBAC); code review with a reliability lens.
- Leadership & Influence — Leads SRE projects across a domain, pinpoints root causes in complex codebases, influences squads without direct authority, and communicates clearly in incidents, RCAs, and reviews.
- Foundations & Compliance — Linux/Unix, networking (VPCs, proxies, CDNs, TCP/IP, DNS), PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, BSP, and data privacy for audience and campaign data.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience & education — 8+ years in SRE, platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering (or equivalent), plus a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Core stack — High expertise operating production Kubernetes and service mesh (Istio) at scale; advanced Terraform and Helm; GitLab CI/CD and ArgoCD.
- Observability & incident management — APM and distributed tracing (Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry); leading incident response, deep dives, and RCA.
- Scripting & development — Go or Python and shell/Bash for automation and internal tooling.
- Nice to have — AWS Associate-level certification; Flagger; Backstage-style IDPs; ad-tech or high-traffic consumer platforms; AWS Well-Architected.
